The homepage workflow finder asks two questions: what you are starting with, and the feeling you want. It is a guide into the editor, not a finished film. Inside PropertyCuts you then choose a format and a starting point. The starting points include a photo slideshow, a VideoMotion walkthrough, a mix of photos and footage with AI, or a standard edit of the clips and stills you upload. You can change your mind about individual scenes afterwards. The finder simply stops you opening the wrong kind of project out of habit.
What actually changes between the three
The useful differences are the material you start with, how much of the movement you direct, how much preparation the property needs, and where the finished file is meant to be watched.
| Slideshow | AI photo animation | Walkthrough | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starting material | Listing photographs | Selected stills from that set | Footage, with stills added only where they help |
| Creative control | You choose the order, the hold, the text, the music and the branding. The frames stay still. | You choose the still and the crop. The move itself is generated. You decide whether to use the result. | You choose the order and the trims. VideoMotion can change the pace. You can keep the original footage instead. |
| Preparation | Edit the photo set and agree the facts. | The same, plus a check of every generated scene against the source photo. | A logical route filmed on site, then a trim of the weak moments. |
| Best used for | A clear listing film or a first social cut when the photography is doing the work. | A few hero spaces that feel too static as stills, inside an otherwise controlled edit. | A filmed journey through the property, for a listing page or a longer social film. |
None of these is a better class of marketing. A tidy slideshow of a well-shot house will beat a warped animation of a poor frame, and a short honest walkthrough will beat a long one that shows every doorway twice.
If you only have photographs
Build the slideshow. Order the rooms as a visit, set the holds, and put the listing facts on screen. That method is set out in how to create a property video from photos. You do not need to animate the set to have something you can publish.
Add AI motion only where a still is carrying a space that a static frame undersells: the approach to the house, a long reception room, a garden. Leave kitchens full of straight lines, and any frame you already doubt, as photographs. Read the generated clip against the original before it goes into the film. How to use ImageMotion inside PropertyCuts is the sequence of controls, from the crop to accepting the clip.
If you only have footage
Edit the walkthrough. Do not break the clips into a slideshow of grabbed frames unless a single moment is all you can use. Put the rooms in the order you filmed, or in a better order if the shoot wandered, cut the moments where the camera hesitates, and let the pace slow down in the rooms that matter.
VideoMotion is the pace treatment in this route. It keeps the frames you shot and changes their speed. It does not invent rooms that were never filmed. The practical edit is covered in how to edit a property walkthrough.
If you have both
Use both, but give each asset a job. Footage should carry the journey: the approach, the step from hall to living room, the turn into the garden. Photographs should carry the rooms where a locked-off frame is clearer than a moving one, or where you never filmed. An animated still can stand in for a missing move only when it survives a comparison with the photograph.
A mixed timeline is easy to overfill. If the footage already shows the kitchen well, the kitchen photograph does not need to follow it. One clear view of each deciding space is enough.
A simple way to decide on a deadline
If the file has to go out today and the photographs are approved, make the slideshow in the format you will actually post. If you have time to review generated scenes and a few stills would benefit from movement, animate those and leave the rest. If someone walked the property with a camera and the route is usable, edit that footage instead of rebuilding the visit from stills.
The homepage finder is there when you want the question asked in the other direction: start from the assets, then see which route PropertyCuts suggests. You can still change approach once the project is open. The expensive mistake is not picking the “wrong” style. It is spending the afternoon on a treatment the material cannot support.
